Our Story

Born by tragedy. Galvanized by love.

Our mission is to save lives by promoting and providing PLBs - Personal Locator Beacons to U.S. offshore workers, regardless of their industry, and promote the life saving benefits of learning to swim. In addition, we want to share the latest evidence based grief recovery method to families of deceased and missing loved ones. We are a federally recognized 501c3 nonprofit incorporated in the State of Texas and able to accept donations since November 2021.

  • Jason Willis Krell

Jason was one week from turning 27 years old, the youngest member of the crew, when he disappeared due to the Seacor Power disaster. The loss of Jason is a huge impact to all that love him, to his entire family, but no more so than to his mother, his father, and his sister.

Please help us honor him by clicking the button below to view his life in pictures and by supporting our mission to save lives through addressing one of the offshore industry’s safety gaps (oil & gas, wind energy, merchant mariners, etc).

  • Seacor Power Disaster

At approx 3:30pm Cst on April 13, 2021, the biggest maritime disaster in Louisiana's history, regarding the loss of life, occurred. More people lost their lives than in the BP Deep Water Horizon disaster in 2010. The Seacor Power liftboat, with (19) crewmen onboard, just a few miles from the mouth of Port Fourchon Louisiana, in only 55 ft of water, flipped on it's side in severe weather. (16) crewmen were behind closed doors inside the four story living quarter structure, including Jason, (2) men were in the bridge on top of the living quarters, and (1) crewman was working inside one of the two engine rooms within the hull of the boat.

    (6) crewmen were rescued the same night of the capsize, (6) other crewmen were found deceased in the following eight days of an intense air, water surface, and diver vessel search, and (7) crewmen have never been found, including our precious loved one Jason.

  • Jason's Beacon

In response to what we learned through the Seacor Power tragedy, Jason's Beacon was formed as a nonprofit in Texas by the mother, sister, and aunt of Jason. We learned that finding individuals lost at sea is extremely difficult and too often unsuccessful.

We learned that there are life saving PLBs - Personal Locator Beacons that individuals out to sea can use for open water rescue. They work by sending a signal within seconds of being activated to a network of satellites that then notify search and rescue operations, such as the US Coast Guard, of the person's GPS location. They are so small they can be put in a pocket, attached to a belt, worn around the neck, or attached to a life jacket. We learned that the vast majority of offshore companies, who could get volume discounts on the devices, don’t provide them for their workers going out to sea and that the devices are otherwise cost prohibitive for most individuals.
